Bain and Cole are taking a shower while I wait outside the bathroom. I hear Bain say, “Wow Cole! Look how much bigger mine is!”. Of course I’m more than a little curious about that statement so I peek in the shower and ask, “What’s bigger?”. Bain looks down and says, “my foot! Look how much bigger than Cole’s! It’s pretty big, huh?”.
Bain awakes today, jumps up and the following cute conversation took place:
Bain: COLE! Guess how old I am today?
Cole: What?
Bain: I’m 5 years old today!
(Bain comes into Mom and Dad’s room)
Mom and Dad: Happy Birthday Bain!!
Bain: (acting a bit shy) Thanks!
Mom: How does it feel to be 5?
Bain: Oh, I don’t know what it feels like to be 5 . . . . But, I DO feel special!
Case has broken the family weight gain record set by Cole (who was 9lbs at birth and 16 lbs at 4months old - total weight gain of 7 lbs in 4 months). Case was born 7 lbs 11oz and was 18 lbs 2 oz at his 4 month check-up a month ago - that’s a grand total of 10 1bs 7 oz weight gain in 4 months!! Yes, he’s only nursing and has not yet had any formula. I’m sure he’s 19 lbs by now.
Bain and Cole have started preschool again and love it :) Here are a few pics from September - enjoy
Ryan finally got his ‘48 willy’s jeep running after 15 years or so :) He put the boys’ car seats in the back and takes them for rides several times a week — it purrs like a kitten :) Bain was a huge help to his dad, and continues to help him fix up the jeep. Here’s some pix and a video of the jeep’s maiden voyage out of the garage!
I can’t believe the summer is almost over! It’s gone by sooo fast! The boys will be starting preschool again right after Labor Day. Here are some summer pix…
Cole had his 3rd birthday on Sunday. And we had a party with some of his friends last week at the park. It’s hard to believe he’s so big already! Since Cole is so obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine - it was a Thomas birthday party. And Cole and Dad took a ride on the little Buckhorn Northwest on his actual birthday - a little kids train that the city runs during the summer at one of the parks here in Loveland.
Cole got lots of trains for his birthday - so now he’s in Train Heaven
Bain started T-ball this year for the first time. He’s 4 1/2 and most of the other boys are 5 or six… So, he’s the smallest kid on the team - he’s not too hard to pick out of the pictures
So far he LOVES playing! He’s getting pretty good at throwing and catching. His favorite part is RUNNING! Running after the ball, running the bases, and just running sprints in practice. It’s a great release for him and gives him some one on one time with his Dad who helps out at practice a lot.
DEEP THOUGHT #1:
Dad goes to check on the boys at about 10pm and Bain is still awake sitting up in his bed deep in thought.
Dad: What are you doing, Bain?
Bain: Well …. I’m just thinkin’ ’bout jack-hammers and dogs…
Dad: Hmmm . . . Okay.
Next Morning, Mom asks: So, Bain, what were you thinking you could do with the jack-hammers and dogs?
Bain: Well . . . what I was thinkin’ was that if I had a jack-hammer, I could drill a hole in the back yard for Jackson (our dog) to poop in.

DEEP THOUGHT #2
Bain: Hey Dad, I know how we could catch A LOT of fish!
Dad: How’s that?
Bain: We could hook up the engine hoist to a net and just pull ‘em outa the water - a WHOLE BUNCH of fish!
Bain is 4.5 yrs old and started riding his bike without training wheels!!! After 1 day he was already starting and stopping by himself - and after 1 week he’s on his bigger 16 in bike and doing figure eights, swerving around his brother, going up hills and through the grass, and seeing how long he can make skid marks in driveway.
